NBA
The Pistons dropped a 118-115 heartbreaker to the Cavaliers last night. Detroit played from behind all night, but pulled even when Cade Cunningham sank three free throws with five seconds remaining. Darius Garland’s three-pointer from mid-court at the buzzer won it for Cleveland. Cunningham finished with 38 points.
The Pistons host the 76ers tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:05 on 99.3 The Lift.
Detroit obtained forward KJ Martin from the 76ers yesterday. It’s a salary deal – the Pistons gave up nothing, but agreed to absorb Martin’s salary to clear some cap room for Philadelphia. Philly also gave the Pistons a pair of second-round draft picks – one in 2027, and the other in 2031.
The Pistons also added forward Lindy Waters III and guard Josh Richardson in a five-team trade that also involved the Warriors, the Heat, the Raptors, and the Jazz. Again, Detroit’s role was mostly as a salary absorber.
With three new players and one open roster spot, expect more shuffling before the trade deadline passes this afternoon at 3:00.
