For the third year, Copper Shores will support the Meals on Wheels program with a holiday cookie fundraiser. For the first two years, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels collected cookie orders from the community people called the office around the Christmas holiday. However, given the hustle and bustle around the new year and winter holidays, the program wanted to move the 2025 Holiday Sweets fundraiser to Valentine’s Day.
It seems to be a busy time for a lot of businesses and our kitchen. So this year we thought we would try Valentine’s Day as it is an opportunity to give your sweetheart a little bit of chocolate to share. – Kim Cook, baking Specialist, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels
Many area seniors purchase cookies, helping to support a program that offers them so much throughout the year. However, the cookie fundraiser is open to the entire community.
A lot of the seniors do purchase the holiday boxes that we offer. And we do get great feedback. They do appreciate homemade goods. A lot of our seniors, especially the ladies, grew up baking in their own homes. And so they do have that appreciation of homemade treats. – Kim Cook, baking Specialist, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels
Orders need to be in by Monday at noon says Meals on Wheels Cook Kim Cook. So she and the kitchen crew can many make large batches of chocolate-covered strawberries, an orange custard tart, a French butter cookie, and Frangelico truffles.
So between the truffles and the cookies, there’ll be 600. We’ll bake 100 of the tarts and make 200 of the strawberries. – Kim Cook, baking Specialist, Copper Shores Meals on Wheels
Boxes cost 25 dollars and include a variety of sweet treats perfect for a date night. Orders can be delivered within five miles of the Hancock Water Street location. Order pick will start at noon on the 14th.
