The Keweenaw Health Foundation donates 15000 dollars to the VFW Post 3900 in Calumet to enhance the Lake View Veterans Cemetery in Houghton. On Wednesday, the Keweenaw Health Foundation, a nonprofit arm of Keweenaw Aspirus, announced it would donate 15,000 dollars to the VFW Post 3900, which is in charge of installing a new Patriot Sign at the Lake View Veterans Cemetery. The Patriot Sign will serve as a lasting tribute to service members and the sacrifice veterans commit to protect the United States of America.
KHF Executive Director Jenn Jenich Laplander says the foundation is honored to contribute to an important project recognizing veterans throughout the generations who have served. This donation represents a small way the foundation can give back to service members, Laplander added. Lake View Veterans Cemetery has become the final home for many veterans in the Keweenaw Peninsula, serving military families of each branch.
The Patriot Sign will proudly display the names of veterans who served in the United States military. VFW Post 3900 commander Art Kreivi says the veteran community commends the Keweenaw Health Foundation donation, grateful for a wonderful partner to support an important remembrance project.
