The City of Houghton is getting another stoplight, but only part-time.
The Michigan Department of Transportation plans to install a traffic signal on M-26 at Canal Road.
The department has been monitoring the intersection for several years. Traffic counts show that a traffic signal is warranted, but only during the peak summer season.
MDOT plans to operate the signal from approximately May until October each year, depending on traffic levels. The signal will be placed in flash mode during the winter months. They hope to have it installed by July.
