Organizers of the upcoming Keweenaw Pridefest are looking for some help.
Pridefest will take place June 7th. Emily Stanton from Keweenaw Queers told us the event has grown quickly since it was introduced two years ago…
We expected like, 30 people, 30 to 40, and then 200 people showed up.
Last year’s Pridefest drew 450 people, prompting a move this year to a larger venue – the Calumet Colosseum – and the need for more staff…
We’re looking for about 30 to 35 volunteers.
Stanton says jobs include set-up and tear-down, crowd assessment, welcome desk and first aid station staffing, and assistance with the sound system.
It won’t be a full-day commitment…
We’re splitting up the volunteering into two shifts. That would give people who volunteer time to actually enjoy the event.
Interested potential volunteers can meet organizers and learn more at an informal session Saturday. Stop by the Portage Lake District Library between 11 and 2.
