MLB
The Tigers scored all their runs in the first three innings, and outlasted the Padres 6-4 last evening. Keider Montero pitched into the fifth, and was charged with all four San Diego runs. Brenan Hanifee earned the win in relief, and Will Vest claimed his second save of the season. Zach McKinstry had three hits, including a double and a triple. Gleyber Torres also had three hits, and drove in two runs.
The Tigers continue that home set against the Padres tonight. Jack Flaherty will pitch against Nick Pivetta. Coverage will begin at 6:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
The injury that forced Kerry Carpenter out of Sunday’s game has been diagnosed as a mild hamstring strain. He’s considered day-to-day.
The Detroit Tigers brought infielder Jace Jung up from Toledo before last night’s game. They sent struggling outfielder Ryan Kreidler down to the Mud Hens.
The Brewers dropped a 5-2 decision to the Giants last night. San Francisco scored single runs in each of the final four innings to secure the win. Caleb Durbin hit his first major league home run.
The Brewers visit the Giants again tonight. Jose Quintana will start against Jordan Hicks.
Milwaukee got good news and bad news on their pitching situation yesterday. Tobias Myers is expected to return to the rotation Thursday. He’s been out with a sore oblique. Nestor Cortes has been shifted to the 60-day disabled list because of a left elbow flexor strain. Team officials anticipate that he will be able to return later this season.
With Myers’ return imminent, the Brewers sent Logan Henderson back to Nashville, and called reliever Craig Yoho, who made his major league debut last night.
NBA
The Pistons evened up their opening-round NBA playoff series against the Knicks with a 100-94 victory last night. Cade Cunningham had 33 points and 12 rebounds. Tobias Harris added 15 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Jalen Duren scored 12 points and snared 13 rebounds. It’s the first playoff win for Detroit in 17 years. That series continues Thursday in Detroit. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
Isaiah Stewart missed last night’s game because of inflammation in his right knee. He’s considered day-to-day.

- The Clippers shaded the Nuggets 105-102. That series is tied at a win per team.

- The Bucks visit the Pacers. Indiana leads that series 1-0.
